Since 1776, the US has been involved in numerous wars and hundreds of military interventions, meaning the country has been in conflict for the majority of its existence.
Although the United States as a nation has lost a huge amount of money in wars, certain private sectors and companies have been able to make massive profits from it.
The military-industrial complex: Defense contractors (such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and General Dynamics) have earned huge revenues and shareholder returns from continuous conflicts.
Private military contractors: Companies like the former Blackwater (now Academi) have made billions of dollars by providing services that were formerly performed by soldiers.
Financial industry players: Banks that underwrite government war debt profit from the interest.
Therefore, the profits are privatized, while the costs and debts are socialized (borne by American taxpayers).
So, this is essentially another transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top.
